Most of us keep a list of doors we think have closed. The job we didn't take, the message we never sent, the city we didn't move to. We go back to that list at night, mostly.

I wrote "The Door Was Never Locked" after catching myself doing exactly that. I was sitting with the same few regrets again, running them like a loop. Fast, restless, going nowhere.

Then something stops. It was the moment I finally look around and see that nothing was holding them in. The door was open the whole time. There was always time, and there was always a way to change course.

I think the listener might be someone sitting in a dark room, a little tired, with a decision they keep postponing. Maybe they're a few days from starting something new. Maybe they're not sure it's allowed anymore.

Listen to it tonight, if you can. Maybe you'll hear a door you forgot about.
